Leo was Parva Pups first adoption! When Leo was found by Michele in La Parva, Chile he was near death. With cuts, bruises, and a bad leg, Michele had no choice but to take Leo in. It was our last week staying in La Parva when Michele first introduced us to Leo, we immediately fell in love with Leo and brought him into our rental home to stay with us. The next day we had officially decided on taking Leo home with us. After many vet trips down to Santiago, Leo finally had all the proper vaccinations and papers to be brought back to the U.S. One week later Leo was loaded onto our plane and was adopted. Leo is now living happily with us (the Forman family) in Aspen, Colorado!
When Michelle found Lindsey in La Parva she was hiding under cars trying to stay alive. Michelle had to shave her side from all the grease in her fur from the cars. Now she can go to bed with both eyes closed, happy knowing where her next meal will come from thanks to her foster home in Breckenridge. We are also happy to announce that Lindsey's foster family (Jack and Ali) have decided to adopt Lindsey (now Lu Lu) for good. Thanks to all of you who donated to Parva Pups, Lindsey's adoption was successful and this same opportunity will become a reality for countless other dogs still living on the streets in La Parva.
Tighe is a 4-year-old rescue from La Parva. He got his name Tighe because the white strip of hair going down his chest looked a lot like a tie. Michelle found Tighe badly injured and beat up by other dogs on her front deck and dragged him into her house. He then took an emergency trip down to a vet in Santiago that most likely saved his life. While training in La Parva with Burke, a Canadian ski racer, Kate, immediately fell in love with him. After a couple of plane rides, Tighe arrived in his forever home! Tighe is now living the good life in Toronto with Kate.
Valentin, more commonly known as the Chilean Wonder Dog, is one of Parva Pups miraculous rescues. His long journey out of Chile begins when he was hit by a company truck on the street. Near-death, Michelle saved his life and had him completely “repaired” and transformed. Valentin was a master escape artist and on his departure day, he completely disappeared. He ended up traversing from La Parva to a nearby resort, Valle Nevado. Valle Nevado is not at all sympathetic to their abandoned street dogs and they frequently round up all the dogs, load them into a truck, and abandon them once more onto the streets of Santiago, Chile. Surely we would never find him again but a few months later Valentin was spotted in Santiago by a colleague of Michelles in her neighborhood. Soon after Michelle was on a plane to Chile where she was able to find Valentin a forever home. Alex Taran, a La Parva Ski Patroller who shared her lunch with him every day the past season, was contacted by Michelle about Valentin on Valentine's day and knew it was meant to be. Valentin and Alex are now living the mountain dream together in Bend, Oregon!
Workers first discovered Bella in the early weeks of the 2019 ski season. Nicknamed 'Chella,' which means beer, Bella quickly became well known amongst the seasonal workers. When Noah and Michelle arrived in La Parva for the season, Bella's warming face was hard to miss. When Bella's condition started to worsen on the streets, she was quickly taken in and had emergency surgery performed at the vet in Santiago. In the lengthy amount of time, it took Bella to recover, Noah searched endlessly for a home. With the help of Kelley from Lucky Day Animal Rescue of Colorado, a beautiful family out of Boulder agreed to foster Bella. Bella's condition stabilized and when the countless hours of logistics were finalized, Bella was finally on her way to what would be her forever loving home in Boulder, Colorado.
